Direct Childcare Worker (12yrs-20yrs)
Seeking to fill positions for afternoon, evening, overnight, and weekend schedules. This is a direct care position that provides for the day-to-day care, nurturing, supervision, and development of youth ages 13 to 20.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and orderly procedures for dispensing medications.
- Provides transportation to residents as needed.
- Fills in the gaps of the basic schedule with positive learning opportunities and experiences for the resident.
- Schedules/Coordinates recreational activities for residents.
- Keeps team informed of scheduled activities of primary residents through use of changeover log and team meetings.
- Oversees and assists with cleaning & laundry needs.
- Prepares cottage meals.
- Operates and maintains agency vehicles in a safe manner per policy.
- Maintains supervision of residents in accordance with Policy and Procedure.
- Treats residents and families with respect.
- Actively participates in campus activities in a constructive manner.
- Assesses needs in crisis situations.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License with minimum of four-year driving history.
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Human Services related field) or High School Diploma/GED combined with experience working with adolescents.
- Necessary stamina and temperament to work with youth who are experiencing crisis and/or emotional and/or behavior disorders.
- Maintain high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to multi task in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be trained in basic first aid, medication administration, CPR and crisis intervention.
- Duties are performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive (physical interventions, escorts, etc.) to casual and leisurely.
- Experience working with behaviorally challenging youth in a Residential Care setting and experience with Crisis Management techniques.
- Duties may include bending, stooping or kneeling for various durations of time.
- Must be prepared to actively participate in a wide range of activities including but not limited to: basketball, swimming, fishing, volleyball, movies, hiking, team meetings, etc.
Required Safety/Background Checks: All applicants considered for hire must consent and receive clearance from the following local, state, and national agencies:
Department of Human Services (fingerprint required)
Department of Juvenile Justice (fingerprint required)
Motor Vehicle Record (must have a valid license for four consecutive years, and the applicant/driving record must be approved by our insurance carrier)
Child Abuse Registry, Department of Corrections, Pardons and Parole, Sex Offenders Registry, Medicaid Fraud
All employees must also pass a pre-employment physical, ten panel drug screen and TB skin test’
